Eilat

Eilat is the southernmost city of Israel and is a unique oasis on the coast of the Red Sea.

 Climate
Eilat has the perfect climate where the sun always shines.   It rarely rains in Eilat and the average daytime temperature rarely goes below 21C (70F) - even in winter.

 Beaches

 Sports
The waters of the Dead Sea are calm and are ideal for boating activities, pedal boats, rowboats, kayaks and self drive motorboats. Take a Banana ride (an inflated balloon which is pulled by a speedboat and ridden by 5 to 8 people).
Other watersport activities include water-skiing, windsurfing and parasailing.  Cruises, either one hour or full days cruises, are available aboard one of the yachts that departure regularly from the Eilat Marina and cruise across the Red Sea Gulf and the maritime border with Jordan.   

 Eilat Coral Reefs
Eilat is well known as an excellent diving location and there are many Diving Clubs for both beginners and experienced divers.  With its crystal-clear waters the Red Sea and the variety of coral reefs along its shores are amongst the most beautiful dive sites in the world. The coral reefs can also be enjoyed by snorkeling or from a glass bottomed boat. 

What to See:

The Coral World Park includes a collection of aquariums and the Underwater Observatory
There are large pools for sharks, rays, sea turtles and other creatures while other pools show species of coral fish that cannot be seen from the underwater observatory.
The Underwater Observatory is a tower entering into the depth of sea where you will be able to view tropical fish, sea creatures, moving sea anemones of every possible form.
There is also an observation deck offering a magnificent view of the Gulf of Aquaba.

The Dolphin Reef facility is situated just north of the Coral Reef.  Visitors can observe the dolphins and even swim and dive with them.  25 km north of Eilat is the Timna Park, the site of ancient copper mines, is known for its beautiful colored rocks, stunning cliffs and canyons.
The most impressive formation is known as Solomon Pillars, natural 50-m high red pillars carved from the stone by streams of water.

International festivals of classical and jazz music are held annually in Eilat.

 Desert Adventures
Situated between the southern edge of the Negev Desert and the beginning of the Sinai Peninsula, Eilat offers great Desert experiences which vary from private and organized hiking tours, jeep tours and camel treks, mountain biking or rappelling on the desert mountain cliffs.

 Bird Observation
In its unique position as the only land bridge between Asia and Africa, Eilat is one of the
most important migratory routes. Fall and spring are the main migratory seasons, but birds can be seen crossing continents every month of the year, except May and June.

 Shopping
Since Eilat is a Duty Free Zone all products are VAT free.   Its modern air-conditioned shopping malls hold outlets of most of Israel's main chain stores as well as boutiques, jewelry stores, sports equipments, souvenirs and much more.

 Nightlife:
Most of the nightlife spots are located around the North beach area, and along the promenade.  Besides the pubs, bars and nightclubs, one of the main attractions are the Eilat Beaches, which are bustling locations for open-air bars and parties, especially during the summer months.
